Wawasee Schools will not have school on February 3, even if we miss a day next week due to poor weather.
A local wildlife artist and children's book illustrator visited us Thursday. His name is Bruce Langton and one of the books he has illustrated is H is for Hoosier. We read this book in class so we were familiar with some of his artwork before he came. We were so excited to meet him! He told us about his family and his pets and how he became an artist. He decided he wanted to be an artist when he was in the third grade! He told us it was important to never give up on our dreams. He also gave us a drawing lesson and taught us some tips we could use when we illustrate our books in writing workshop!
We are starting a unit on measurement in math next week. Your child will need to have a ruler with inches and centimeters for measuring. I will send home a paper ruler that they can use if you do not have one, but a standard plastic or wooden one will probably be easier for them to use.

He also gave us a drawing lesson and taught us some tips we could use when we illustrate our books in writing workshop! Here are some of our efforts.
Sorry some of these are oriented the wrong way. Been having some issues with that that have been difficult to fix.

I'm reminding students to start reading their AR library book on Monday. Don't wait until later in the week or they will run out of time to test. I'm also reminding them to bring their books home every day. Please have them keep their library books in their backpack so they have them for school every day.
