Healthworks field trip

Newsletter 5-18-12

        We had a great time on our field trip to the Healthworks Museum.  Ask your child about it!

We will be walking to Lakeside Park at 9:30 on Wednesday, May 30, and we will be returning at 11:30 for lunch.  Parents and siblings are welcome to join us there for the fun!

9:00 awards program (mostly for older students, not many of our second graders will be receiving

Letters to the military

   We got together with our warrior buddies, Mr. Brady's fifth grade students, to work on wrapping up our letter writing unit.  We wrote letters to some young men serving our country in the military.  We told them a little  about ourselves, asked some questions, and thanked them for serving our country and keeping us safe.  Today we took a group picture with our warrior buddies to send with the letters.

Human butterfly

Look what flew into the classroom Tuesday after school!

Fly and be free day

     After raising caterpillars to butterflies, it is time to release them.  We have had so much fun learning!  Here are some pix of "fly and be free day".  It was one of those bittersweet occasions, happy, yet somewhat sad at the same time.

Balancing butterflies

   Today a challenge was issued:  using a cardboard butterfly, tape and 2 pennies, find a way to balance the butterfly on the tip of your finger.  We did it!  We even found more than one way!

Super mileage car

     We got to see the Wawasee High School super mileage car today.  The three students who brought it for us to see are former Syracuse Elementary students.  It's fun to see how hard our kids work and to see their passions!

     Thank you so much for all the goodies, cards, and well wishes you sent my way this week.  I have never felt so appreciated during Teacher Appreciation Week!  I have been so blessed to be able to spend time with and teach such great kids this year.  Thanks again!
