Next week students have a 3 day school week! Woohoo! No school Monday the 22nd and Tuesday the 23rd is a teacher work day since it is the end of the second trimester. Can you believe we are 2/3 of the way through the year already? I can't!
In reading we are working on prediction. Prediction is using clues the author gives us and our own knowledge to figure out what is going to happen next in our reading. We make predictions all the time! This is an easy skill to work on at home during read aloud time.
We finished up graphing and data this week and we began working on geometry and shapes.
We are adding more to our Seesaw feeds every day. Please sign up so you can see what your child is working on in class.

Sign up to see your child's Seesaw journal
Dear Parents,
This year we're going to use a new tool to share what we're learning in
class called Seesaw. Your child will have his or her own learning
journal, and you can get notified when your child adds new items. It's
completely private -- only you can see your child's journal outside of
class.
Click on
https://app.seesaw.me/s/580-256-631
to sign up -- it takes just 30 seconds. Once you sign up, you can download the Seesaw Parent app for iPhone or Android, or access your child's journal on the web. Thanks!

We are going to work on graphing and data for a week or so in math. We will be collecting authentic data, making graphs, and answering questions about our graphs.
This year we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on Friday, February 12. Your child’s homework will be to make a Valentine mailbox and have it returned to school on February 10. For this project the sky is the limit. The focus should be on creativity and fun. If you are on Pinterest there are tons of ideas you can “borrow”. I have shown your child a few. In the past, students have used shoe boxes, poster board, sacks, anything goes.
Some things to remember:
Make sure your child’s name is easy to read so that other students can find it. There should be an opening big enough to put the cards and treats into it. Your child should have easy access to get the cards out of their box.
If you would like to send a treat to our valentine party, pop on over to our facebook page and reply within the valentine party post to let us know what you will be sending. Address at top.

Feb. 11 – Science Fair
