Graphing Authentic Data

We are working on data and graphing in math.  Today we went out to the school parking lot to make a tally chart of the different car colors.  When we came back inside, we made a graph and answered some questions about the data.

Valentine Party

Our class valentine party will be Friday, Feb 12, from 11:00-11:45.  We would love some fun treats to share with the class!  If you would like to sign up to bring something, please go to facebook.com/hayscorner and reply to the message about the party, stating what you would like to bring.  Thanks so much!  We need: cups and drinks (or juice boxes)  and some fun party snacks.

Valentine Boxes

This year we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on Friday, February 12.
Your child’s homework will be to make a Valentine mailbox and have it
returned to school on February 10.  For this project the sky is the limit.
The focus should be on creativity and fun.  If you are on Pinterest there
are tons of ideas you can “borrow”.  I have shown your child a few.
In the past, students have used show boxes, poster board, sacks,
anything goes.

Some things to remember:
1.  Make sure your child’s name is easy to read so that other students can find it.
2. There should be an opening big enough to put the cards and treats into it.
3. Your child should have easy access to get the cards out of their box.

We have 24 students in our class, plus Miss Zorn, our cadet teacher.  A class list was sent home already.

If you have any questions feel free to email me.

Sincerely,
 Mrs. Hays
