Thanks to all of you that took time out of your busy lives to come to a scheduled Parent Teacher Conference. I enjoyed meeting you and I appreciate your desire to learn more about your child's progress.
Our snack cabinet is getting bare. We don't eat lunch until 11:55 and second graders are totally starved by then! If you are able, please send in healthy snacks to share with the class. Great items are pretzels, crackers, cereal, etc.
Don't forget our upcoming field trip to Koinonia Environmental Center on October 17. The cost is $2.00 for students. Students are also to bring a disposable sack lunch on the day of the trip. Please return signed permission slips as soon as possible. If you would like to help chaperone, please drop me a note or an email at jhays@wawasee.k12.in.us.
Our class is participating in Book It! this year. Check out the previous blog post for complete information. I also sent home a note about it Wednesday.

Book It!
Your child brought home a Book It! record sheet today. Our class will be participating in this program. You will be recording minutes read at home on this sheet. All of these things count toward their minutes: reading independently
reading to a sibling
listening to someone read aloud
reading books, magazines, ebooks (but not playing games :), etc.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. When your child turns in their completed record sheet with your signature at the bottom verifying their reading, they get a coupon for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut! Happy reading!

Newsletter 9-27-13
Thursday, Oct. 3, is Parent Teacher Conference day. . We do not have enough time slots to meet with everyone on this day, so I schedule about half of our conferences for this day and the other half will be scheduled for January 16 . If you are not scheduled for a conference and would like to meet with me before the next conference day, please drop me a note. I'd be happy to schedule a time to meet with you after school one day soon.
