Newsletter 3-28-14

       All Book It forms must be turned in before Spring Break. Due by April 4.

       Please make sure children have coats each day for school.  It is also rather muddy on the playground so your child may bring an extra pair of socks if they need them.

       Next Friday is Beach Day and the Limbo Contest in the gym at 2:00.  Students may bring a beach towel, wear colorful clothes, hats, and sunglasses to celebrate!  No swimwear, please.

How long is a minute?

How long is a minute?  We chose a strategy to practice (e.g. how many times we can tie our shoes, write our name, draw stars, do jumping jacks, etc.)  and used that strategy to guess how long a piece of music was.  We used sand timers to practice.  Ask us about it!

Prefix checkers

We played checkers to review identifying prefixes.   When we move into a square, we have to read the word and identify the prefix.  We did a super job!

Newsletter 3-14-14

     We really need some new items for the second grade auction basket for the Spring Carnival.  Our theme is Beach Basket.  Please send in any new items, big or small, to help fill up our basket for this worthwhile PTO fundraiser.

    We could use some more snacks for our snack cabinet.  Thanks in advance for any healthy snacks you are able to send!

        Please make sure children have warm coats, hats, and gloves each day for school.  Snow pants and boots are nice, but at the very least they need hats, coats, and gloves for recess each day.  We closely monitor the weather and make a decision right before recess if we will be going out or staying in.  Please make sure your child is prepared either way.

    We are still working on telling time in math.  Please talk about both time and money in daily situations where they come up.  That is the best way to make learning meaningful!

Our school will be on WSBT Channel 22 news tonight sometime between 5 and 5:30 for winning the I love to read challenge back in February.  Matt came to read Oh the Places You'll Go!  by Dr. Seuss to us today.
