Reading nonfiction text

We are doing an author study.  We are studying nonfiction conventions.  Some examples would be: graphs, table of contents, diagrams and labels, glossary, caption, maps, etc.  We had a nonfiction convention scavenger hunt and looked for these things in Gail Gibbons' books.  We found bunches and learned lots about ways to teach readers more!

Demonstrating how the moon, sun, and earth move together

Isabelle, Hank, and AJ are demonstrating how the moon revolves around the earth,  and how the earth revolves around the sun.  Cool, huh?  They practiced doing this at recess with our playground balls so they could show the class what they learned!
